After completing my training in different forms of violence against women and alternative dispute resolution, the first thing I did was make peace with my wife

Religious scholar Jahani is from the Garbzo district of Khost province and also serves as a preacher at a local mosque. He recently took part in a three-day workshop focusing on the management and nonviolence communication of the SHG Network. Despite holding a doctorate in religious sciences from Al-Ahzar University in Egypt, he found the training in management and nonviolence communication to be incredibly valuable. As a result, he was able to reconcile with his wife and children at home. He explained that the training helped him to improve his relationships, especially with his wife. For example, he was able to have a productive conversation with his wife about managing the household and raising their children well.

“I first made peace with my wife. Then, I sat down with her, and we reached an understanding about providing our children with a good education, eliminating violence in the home, and ensuring their healthy development.

Thanks to a workshop I attended, I was able to use the non-violent communication skills I learned to bring together two communities that had been enemies for five years. The workshop, led by Ustad Akbari, provided valuable training on how to manage and communicate with each other and gave us important information to address critical issues in our community. Using these skills, I was able to bring peace between the two communities.

Jahani, a well-known religious scholar, also mentioned that I shared the same principles of conflict management and non-violent communication in a Friday sermon. The lessons I learned were incredibly valuable and necessary, and I am committed to raising public awareness about the harm caused by violence against women from the pulpit. Jahani also promised to adhere to the guidelines of Human Rights and Media Watch and to act as a civic activist in our community.”

In cases of inter-family and community conflict, underage girls are often forced into marriages to bring about peace between disputing families. HRWMO focuses on addressing this issue by working in cooperation with influential community figures and key stakeholders.
