HRWMO is a specialized not-for-profit organization dedicated to legal, socio-economic, and media empowerment. To ensure effective partnerships and communication, HRWMO is registered with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled, and the Ministry of Information and Culture in Afghanistan.
Our mandate is reflected in Sustainable Development Goals 5 and 16, which promote gender equality, protect human rights, and establish strong institutions for peace and justice by reinforcing formal and informal mechanisms. Simultaneously, the HRWMO directs its activities towards all SDGs to advance social and economic development.
HRWMO’s vision is a society where human rights are respected and all people are equal and enjoy access to legal rights, and their living conditions are improved through sustainable livelihoods, and social and economic inclusion.
Our work is centered around three main areas: protecting human rights through legal and economic empowerment, providing mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), addressing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), and ending violence against women and girls (EVAWG), as well as monitoring and advocacy. Additionally, we focus on building local media capacity. In response to humanitarian crises, we distribute emergency aid, offer social protection, and provide water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.
